Understanding the Heart of A Whistleblower "The Cathy Harris Story"
Understanding the Heart of
A Whistleblower
"The Cathy Harris Story"
A whistleblower is a person who exposes mismanagement, abuses of authority, prohibited personnel practices, fraud, waste and abuse and other types of corruption, which affects the health, safety and the welfare of an ENTIRE NATION. I too am a federal whistleblower, (TheCathyHarrisStory.com). People call me the "Flying While Black" or "Racial Profiling" whistleblower. All communities must continue to rally behind all whistleblowers, because they are indeed, "The Good Guys." First of all you need to understand the heart of whistleblowers and why they come forward and tell the truth in the first place. It's never about any type of financial gain, even though some whistleblowers in some industriesreceive millions of dollars. When whistleblowers witness any type of illegality, their conscience will no longer allow them to remain silent. It is simply the right thing to do and they also want to follow it through to see changes made, if they don't end up in jail or homeless in the process of blowing the whistle. And this is why the public need to pay attention when whistleblowers come forward. Just like the whistleblower from CDC.gov, I also reported egregious acts carried out by another federal government agency, U.S. Customs Service (now called Customs and Border Protection - CBP.gov), when in October 1998, I reported to Congress, the Senate and the media, that African American women international travelers were targeted and singled out for Customs' inspections, because they were suspected of being drug carriers or mules (had swallowed drugs), but the only crimes these women committed were "Flying While Black." Most people don't know it but I initially decided to blow the whistle in 1998, when I read an article in the Final Call newspapers in Chicago, IL, about 80 women who had filed a historic lawsuit against the U.S. Customs Service. That number eventually rose to over 1300 African American women international travelers nationwide reaching out to Chicago's Attorney, Ed Fox, about Customs' practices. These women, many professionals such as doctors, nurses, judges, lawyers, teachers, flight attendants, etc. were subjected to abusive pat-downs, humiliating strip searches, and prolonged detentions, which sometimes continued for up to 4 days, just so my co-workers could make OVERTIME MONEY. I knew when I read the article from the Final Call newspapers, that they would need someone on the inside, an insider, and I knew from the very beginning it would have to be me. I was already networking and discussing the illegal practices with other Customs Inspectors (now called Customs and Border Protection Officers) all over the country, but they all seemed to be hesitant to come forward. But after being raised in rural Georgia as the family's black sheep, as the youngest daughter with 8 siblings, 5 big brothers, and 3 overbearing sisters, and after my military tour, U.S. Army, everything that I had went through in my life, had prepared me for what was yet to come, so those men on my job did not intimidate me at all. And living in Atlanta, GA at the time, in the hometown of the late, great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I knew as a single mother, raising two daughters, that I had to jump into this fight, because clearly working for U.S. Customs Service, I was in a position to make a difference. I had to step out on my faith and put it all on the line in order to make a difference. I was not only gambling with my life but the life and the future of my two young daughters. Many of these women were targeted simply because they were wearing afrocentric attire or afrocentric hairstyles and this wasn't even in the Customs' guidelines, so these UNWRITTEN RULES resulted in prolonged detentions all over the country, just so Customs Inspectors could make more overtime money. These African American women, who looked so much like me, like my mother, sisters, aunts, nieces, cousins and most of all my two daughters, were escorted from Customs' search rooms in handcuffs with their hands behind their backs, which signified that they had NO POWER. No drugs were ever found on these women, so why were they handcuffed in this manner? Yet white and Hispanic men, who were actually caught with drugs at international airports, were handcuffed with their hands in front of them and even allowed to place a jacket, or some other piece of clothing over their handcuffs, so it did not look like they were handcuffed. This type of practice made my heart weep. These women were thrown into the backs of government vehicles and taken to area hospitals and not only forced to be x-rayed WITHOUT pregnancy tests (later on many found out they were pregnant), but they were shackled to hospital beds for up to 4 days and "FORCE-FED" a laxative (go litely), even when it was obvious that they were pregnant, sometimes up to 6, 7 and 8 months pregnant. They ranged in ages from 13 to 70 years old. Customs rules and regulations stated that as soon as these women passed 3 clear bowel movements, they could be released. However, bowel movements were not counted, and the goal was simply to detain them for as long as possible in order to make more overtime money. Not only did they illegally detain these women, they made jokes back at the airports about them. Everyday when they arrived at work, they joked about having some black woman hemmed up at the hospital, while they were working 12 and 16 hours shifts, making tons of overtime money. Shortly after being released from Customs' prolonged detentions, many of the African American women gave birth to babies weighing ONLY 2 to 3 pounds, with serious health issues and this too was "Another Tuskegee." Many of the African American women were so stunned by their ordeals, especially after they were left sitting and weeping on sidewalks at international airports, not being able to move, that many ended up back in hospitals suffering from dehydration and other health issues, and some even ended up going to mental institutions suffering from depression and just a sense of worthiness. Some have refused to ever step on an airplane again. Per Customs' regulations airlines were not allowed by the U.S. Customs Service to inform family members or friends that were waiting to pick up their loved ones from international flights, that they were being detained by the U.S. Customs Service. So many of these family members and friends did not know what to think. Many suffered from mental anguish, especially when they felt it was a strong possibility that their family members or loved ones were laying dead somewhere, especially after disappearing for up to 4 days. What was one to think! My heart weeped again after seeing these practices by the U.S. Customs Service, which had went on for years and years. I had witnessed illegal practices by the Customs Service in El Paso, TX, Miami, FL and Atlanta, GA, and eventually I said "enough is enough." I had to put my entire livelihood on the line in order to make a difference. And that being said is from "The Heart of a Whistleblower," so we need to move forward and make sure the CDC.gov whistleblower (and all whistleblowers) have what they need (National Bank Trust Funds, GoFundMe.com or Indiegogo.com Crowdfunding Pages) to continue with some type of life. Face it whistleblowing is a very hard thing to do and only 1% is ever successful. Most whistleblowers are never able to work with whistleblower attorneys, so I am so thankful and grateful I was able to work with the Government Accountability Project Attorneys Doug Hartnett and Tom Devine, out of Washington, DC. If women, especially African American women, enjoy traveling overseas, they need to know upfront that I doubt seriously if there will ever be another whistleblower coming out of Customs and Border Protection (CBP.gov), which is now under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS.gov), that would truly be willing to risk it all. I am even being told that the Customs Service is still violating international travelers, so the only thing that the American people have to teach them about what happened, and how it can happen again and how to fight back are my two books, "The Cathy Harris Story: A Whistleblower's Victorious Journey to Justice" and "The Failure of Homeland In-Security: The Government's Dirty Little Secrets from an Insider" - both available as e-books and paperback books at http://www.AngelsPress.com . After I blew the whistle on U.S. Customs in 1998, and after tons of women travelers continued to come forward, Congressional and Senatorial hearings were held where the following changes were implemented:

President Obama Signs the DARK Act (Deny Americans The Right To Know)
The legislation passed by Congress two weeks ago will require most food packages to carry a text label, a symbol or an electronic code readable by smartphone that indicates whether the food contains genetically modified organisms, or GMOs.
The problem is poor people don't have smartphones.

Hello Everyone:
Today I would like to discuss a topic up until a month ago, I knew very little about -- hypothyroidism. Like most people I googled the symptoms before so I wasn't totally in the dark when I realized the illness could be affecting me directly.
I was hoping by the time I turn 60 years old on October 6, 2016, I would fully understand how the human body actually operates. Because the medical industry is BIG BUSINESS, we are a society that have been left with fending for our ownselves with regards to our health.
Remember that most doctor's life span in conventional medicine is only 60 years old -- so in order for you to be able to live to be 100 years old, you will need to become ENTRENCHED in holistic and natural communities, which are located in every city.
Getting healthy is like putting a puzzle together and once you put all the pieces in the puzzle together, only then will you be able to reach your maximum level of health. However, keep in mind that as you age, "age-related" illnesses might pop up.
As a holistic and natural healer and Non-GMO health and wellness expert, as I write this article you need to understand that I don't consider myself to be an expert on hypothyroidism. My goal is to put the issues out there, then hopefully you can continue to conduct your own research.
It is my belief that I have suffered from the side effects of hypothyroidism for many years and recently, I sat out on a journey to truly understand the illness.
No one wants to admit that they might have some type of disease, especially an autoimmune disease so for the sake of this article, I will replace the word disease with illness or a condition.
My Past Health Woes and How I Healed My Ownself
Most of my audience members know my health story and background and how I became a Non-GMO educator in the first place, when I successfully cured my ownself.
Nine (9) years ago when living in Atlanta, GA, I had to save my own life after 6 doctors, including two specialists, failed to diagnose me with any type of illness or disease, despite having severe pain over half my body for 30 days.
My health testimony is outlined in my first health book "How To Take Control of Your Own Life: A Self-Help Guide to Becoming Healthier Over the Next 30 Days" - available as an e-book and paperback, in the preface. You can also read a short excerpt on my blog at "The Awakening."
How I Found Out I Had Hypothyroidism
Moving to Dallas, TX less than a month ago has not only been empowering for me mentally, physically and spiritually but it has totally launched my business, my empowerment company, Angels Press, in another direction.
After arriving in Dallas pumped up and ready to meet others in the community, I attended a Holistic Life Fair. Because I am so much into holistic healing, I was at the fair for 4 hours and spoke to every single fair vendor present.
One of my main reasons for attending was to meet other Non-GMO educators in the Dallas, TX area. However, despite a large vendor turnout for the event, there were no other Non-GMO educators in the room, and this in itself is a problem today because foods affects everything that you do.
A vendor, a holistic healer, called me over to his vending table and looked at my neck and made the statement to me, "You know you have hypothyroidism - right?....While giving me a handout on hypothyroidism.
I looked at him and thought back about many of the symptoms of the illness that I have experienced for years, even though my lab tests were always normal. He then told me because of the way the lines are located on my neck, the puffiness and apparent swelling that I hadn't noticed -- that I had the illness.
Alarming Statistics for Hypothyroidism Sufferers
According to the American Thyroid Association an estimated 20 million Americans have some type of thyroid disease, and about 60 percent of them don't even know it.
Hypothyroidism primarily affects middle-aged women but also can occur in men and women of any age and in children. It's even estimated by some natural and holistic healers that 80 to 90% of women have been suffering for years from hypothyroidism but will never know it.
What was also alarming is that I found out that nine (9) women to every one man suffer from hypothyroidism, which is also called a "slow moving thyroid."
Tons and tons of women are told by doctors that they need their thyroid taken out and they have to be on thyroid medications for the rest of their lives.
As a Speaker, Trainer and Coach at CathyHarrisInternational.com, I can't tell you how many times I have spoken to women on the phone and I literally thought they were men because they did not have their thyroids.
What You Need To Know About Hypothyroidism
The thyroid gland is part of your endocrine system, which produces hormones that coordinate many of your body's activities. Hashimoto's disease is a condition in which your immune system attacks your thyroid, a small gland at the base of your neck below your Adam's apple.
The resulting inflammation from Hashimoto's disease, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, often leads to an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism).
So Hashimoto's disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States. Hashimoto's disease is a "disease" and hypothyroidism is a "condition." Hashimoto's thyroiditis is named after the Japanese surgeon who discovered it in 1912.
Undiagnosed thyroid disorders can put you at risk of developing several serious diseases, including cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and infertility.

Everyone should find out how to identify thyroid disorders and most importantly, how to bring your hormones back into balance for optimal health.
Undetected and misdiagnosed thyroid problems plague millions of Americans and conventional treatments are ineffective for 6 out of 7 thyroid disorders. Even those who are correctly diagnosed often find their thyroid problems are mismanaged by their healthcare providers.

The conventional thyroid disorder treatment of hormone therapy is only effective for one out of the seven known categories of thyroid symptoms. Most other cases of thyroid disorders are mishandled, leading to stress and frustration for the patient as they move from one provider to another, looking for answers.
Those who are responsive to hormone treatment can expect inconsistent results, primarily because such treatments lack any sort of proper functional support.
Lab Tests Looks Normal
Many patients suffering from symptoms of thyroid disorders will be told that their lab work "looks normal," yet they continue to try to cope with the daily symptoms that adversely impact their daily lives.

The problem with testing is that most causes for hypothyroidism can be traced to stress of the immune system. Since this is not caused by the thyroid directly, the problems won't show up in most standard lab tests, leaving the patient without the help he or she needs to avoid further health risks.
The Only Way To Truly Tell If You Have Hypothyroidism
The Only Way To Truly Tell If You Have Hypothyroidism
During a period of research and education, I went back and looked at my TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) level on my physical last year because unlike many others, I keep a copy of all my physicals (Lipid Panel Profile) so I can compare the numbers every 6 months.
Last year the TSH number was 3.8, however, according to my research this number should be 1.8 or below and the only way to obtain an accurate reading is to have a COMPLETE THYROID PANEL, which is not offered by most doctors.
Not only is these panels not offered by most doctor's offices, but many doctors, whether they are your primary doctors (or internists) or OB/GYNs, don't even bother to check your thyroid levels at all - so you will need to ask for this test during your physical.

- Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness
- Pain, stiffness or swelling in your joints
- Heavier than normal or irregular menstrual periods
- Needing more sleep to function properly
- Thinning hair
- Slowed heart rate

- Environmental allergies
Symptoms of hyperthyroidism include:
- heart palpitations
- Inward trembling
- Increased pulse rate, even at rest
- Feeling nervous and emotional
- Insomnia
- Night sweats
- Difficulty gaining weight
What is so alarming is that I found out that many women (and men) with O blood types, have underwent thyroid surgery. So I have tested my theory many times. Every time I see someone with a scar on their throats from thyroid surgery, even women in their 20s or 30s, they always tell me they are O blood types so read the book "Eat Right 4 Your Type" because many O blood types are especially at risk for hypothyroidism.
My Past Hypothyroidism Diagnosis
Years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism by my OB/GYN doctor in Atlanta, not my internist, and chose to go on a natural supplement, however, I did not slow down long enough to self-educate myself like I am doing today on the illness. So my advice to everyone, especially all women, stop and slow down and educate yourself on this all too important illness that is plaguing many women today.
Why You Need To Listen To Your Body
The reason I knew something was wrong was when I moved to Dallas, I was eating less food and exercising more, however, I had an extremely hard time losing weight.
Many people make excuses for not losing weight, especially the fact that you are getting older. At 59 I still did not want to buy into this -- so once again, once more in my life, I sat out on another journey to figure out what was happening to my body. I looked back at some of my past symptoms which are listed above.
I always walked around my place in socks because my feet were always cold. I have had numb hands and feet in the past and even had stiff joints.

The goal is to avoid any type of radiation if you have thyroid issues. I had environmental allergy issues all the time and despite allowing a VA.gov doctor to give me a MRI, a few months ago to see what was happening with my sinuses, it probably also affected my thyroid since the MRI contained radiation and usually when you get this exam, they fail to cover your thyroid.
I also had an x-ray after injuring my shoulder at CampGladiator.com and the x-ray technician told me I was getting radiation in my thyroid.
Also when you get dental exams they fail to cover your thyroid, which can also cause hypothyroidism to flourish, especially in many women.
The History of Iodine
Years ago iodine was placed in many of the foods and the soil that grows the foods have been depleted of iodine because of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Many women in 3rd world countries have big goiters on their necks from a lack of iodine in their diets so iodine deficiency is a big, big issue today, especially with many women.
Cruciferous Vegetables That Blocks Iodine
The goal is to avoid foods that blocks iodine. A list of these cruciferous vegetables in the mustard family that can block your daily iodine intake include:
Other foods and items to avoid include:
Chlorine is now used to purify water instead of iodine. Fluoride is almost universally found in toothpaste and drinking water. And bromide replaced iodine in commercial baked goods over 30 years ago.
Unfortunately, these minerals aren't just toxic for your thyroid, they's dangerous for your health overall. Fluoride is a problem because it blocks the ability of the thyroid gland to concentrate iodine and bromide can cause depression, headaches, and even hallucinations.
Minerals and Supplements That Can Heal Your Thyroid
Also when you get dental exams they fail to cover your thyroid, which can also cause hypothyroidism to flourish, especially in many women.

Minerals and Supplements That Can Heal Your Thyroid
I also found out that it's imperative to get on the following daily supplements mentioned in this article if you think you have this illness, especially the herb selenium (200 mcg) daily, which goes hand-in-hand with any thyroid therapy.
Other supplements needed because of hypothyroidism, which also supports your adrenals include:
- Multi-Vitamin for Women (or Men)
- Selenium (200 mc) daily
- Probiotic (helps with leaky gut)
- Milk Thistle (regenerates your liver)
- Vitamin C & E (which are antioxidants) (be careful with E because it's a blood thinner)
- Ginkgo Biloba (be careful because it's a blood thinner)
- Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement
- Vitamin D3 (take along with Calcium and Magnesium and try to take these away from other vitamins because calcium can strip other supplements of nutrients)
- Ginseng (Ginseng can raise your blood pressure so not every blood type can do ginseng so read "Eat Right 4 Your Type")
My Action Plan to Deal With the Hypothyroidism
I plan on holding several webinars, seminars and workshops, book club and meetup.com discussions around this all too important topic, especially through my platform at VirtualTrainingforWomen.com .
Many women suffer from depression, weight gain, and hair loss, which I believe are three (3) of the most depressing symptoms of hypothyroidism, which can cause any women to fall into a state of hopelessness.
Initially, as I started to conduct my own research, I thought I would need to write another health book on the topic if there were not good information out there. But during the research stage, I came across several great books and teachings on YouTube.com about hypothyroidism.
But I know for sure there will be a chapter on hypothyroidism in my next book entitled "Forever Young: How To Reach Your Maximum Level of Health While Feeling Good and Looking Great" -- due to be released after my 60th birthday in October.
The biggest disappointed was that I had to totally revamp my diet again, which was a lot of work. I found out all the green foods in the mustard family (cruciferous vegetables), that I was eating by juicing, steaming and blending at least 3 times a day, was blocking my daily intake of iodine.
However, I self-educated myself by reading books, listening to audiobooks on www.audible.com , watching presentations by holistic and natural healers, especially many chiropractors on YouTube.com.
The holistic healer at the fair referred me to a herbalist in Dallas who offers FREE 15 minute consultations. He also gave me a link for a lab where I can obtain a COMPLETE thyroid panel.
To learn more about your thyroid read this book " Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? when My Lab Tests Are Normal: a Revolutionary Breakthrough in Understanding Hashimoto's Disease and Hypothyroidism" by Datis Kharrazian - available as an e-book, paperback and audiobook.
Also check out several videos on YouTube.com by Dr. John Bergman and Pharmacist Izabella Wentz.
Supposedly after 3 weeks to 3 months after following some of the action steps in this article and conducting your own research, you should feel much better.
I am very happy to announce that I feel like my old energetic self again. The information was not only empowering for me but as usual, whatever I learn about the human body will be shared in my network with my waiting audience.
Again, I count my blessings everyday because if I never moved to Dallas, TX, and never attended this Holistic Life Fair, I never would have known I had hypothyroidism issues. Change can be good and it certainly can be empowering.

July 4th is the Beginning of Cancer Causing Season for Men
|
Happy 4th of July |
July 2, 2016
Hello everyone and Happy 4th of July. Most people don't have any idea what the 4th of July really means. They just love to have an excuse to be off work and celebrate.
Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire.
Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.
Cancer-causing Season
Okay enough history lesson -- basically, as a Non-GMO Health and Wellness Expert, I have always looked at the 4th of July as the launch of cancer-causing season, especially for men.
June 20, 2016 was the first day of summer so many men and their families started giving barbecues and picnics and will eat tons of meat at these events. Not just at these events but during the entire summer months.
For all you MEAT-EATERS, especially HEAVY MEAT-EATERS, the month of July can bring many health issues in your life and many people are only 30 days away from some type of major health issue.
How Are You Preparing Your Meat?
Don't just look at the quality of the meat, but also the way the meat is prepared. Some men barbeque or grill their meat on their back porch or in their back yards the entire summer. This type of preparation can definitely lead to cancer.
Studies have been conducted that cooking meat at the high temperatures you use to grill, as well as broil and fry, creates compounds linked with some cancers.
Animal and laboratory studies suggest that these compounds may damage DNA and spur the development of tumors in cells of the colon, breast, prostate and lymph system.
Most Meat Contains Parasites
I use to work for U.S. Customs Service (now called Customs and Border Protection (CBP.gov)) before they went under the Department of Homeland Security in 2005.
During that time, the Department of Agriculture (www.USDA.gov) stopped inspecting a large portion of the meat that is imported into this country. So a large portion of the meat that is imported into this country is infected with parasites, which are worms.
Over 85% of people in this country have parasites and unless the worms are seen crawling under their skin, in their eyes or coming out of their anus areas, most Western doctors cannot diagnose you with having parasites.
Parasites Can Turn Into Cancer
What's unfortunate is that parasites can turn into cancer and this is another reason why cancer is the 2nd largest killer in the U.S. today.
Do you feel weak, sluggish or run-down, then there is a good chance you have parasites. Remember parasites are worms which lays eggs.
Most of the time the eggs will be carried out of your body through your fecal matter, but the host parasite can travel throughout your body causing all type of havoc because wherever it lands, it can become a breeding ground for cancer.
How Much Meat Are You Consuming?
In the U.S., at least culturally speaking, we still seem to believe that men need meat. There's just one problem with that -- The close association between masculinity and meat is literally making men sick.
How much meat you are actually consuming? If you are eating more meat than the size of a deck of cards every day, then you are consuming too much meat in your diet and it's important to eat the right type of meat.
When you eat meat, it stays in your body for 3 days turning into parasites and toxins, so the goal is to eat foods that will give you a quick transition from your body. So it's important to have 2 to 3 bowel movements every day.
Eat foods in as natural forms as possible, preferably fresh, raw, organic, wholefoods, juiced, steamed or blended, with as little meat as possible and with very little cooking because cooking depletes nutrients.
